Greetings from Jason Chan!

Happy 2001 to you!

During Christmas and New Year holiday, I have time to making some changes to my site.  The first thing you could see is that I have changed the content of this page, which used to talked about myself, to another page.  Starting from now, I will post any change to my website, progress of new pages in the pipeline, and some statement of myself here.

Lately, I found that some other site are using information (includes photos and contents) in my site without first getting permission from me.  Some of these sites are even commercial sites.  While I have no adverse feeling about others wanting to use any information in my site, I strongly hate someone just cut and paste the contents of my page without my prior approval, and some even make it look like their own efforts!  Most serious is that one commercial site (Cxxxxheli)  that uses photos that I taken in the October 2000 Tokyo Show and put them into their pages without my prior consent!  The irony is that the guy who is making that commercial page knows me personally, and he could simply give me a call and ask me in person!  However, he just rip photos off my site and simply put a sentence saying "Photos courtesy of Jason Chan".  I know of this by some other people who viewed that commercial page, saw my photos, and told me.  This is highly unacceptable, and to me its like taking money from my wallet without me knowing.  I know why he would not dare to call me and ask me for permission beforehand cause he is afraid that I would turn down his request due to things happened between us in the past.  What a coward he is! Come to think of it, almost all of the contents in my pages are original.  I pay for all the things featured in my site, pay for all the expenses incurred for the trips to various shows and contest, incurred holiday times and sleepless nights to make these information public.  I like to share information with people, and this is the main reason why I set up this site.  However, why should I subsidize some crooks who just would not do his own but like to rip off other's efforts?  This thought have been preventing me from further enhancing my site, cause I just hate my efforts being used by wrong hands.  Every time when I sit in front of my computer wanting to write some page this thought keeps coming up, and it is quite hard for me to write in this way.  If some of you here could suggest a method to prevent someone from ripping off things from my site, please let me know, I appreciate that.  Meanwhile, if anyone (Non-commercial related) who would like to use anything in my site, I would be glad to grant permission if he would kindly send me an e-mail first.  In addition, I would also let commercial related site to use my contents too, but that would not be as easy as regular hobbyist.

Another year has gone by, when I made my new year resolution for 2001, I cannot keep myself from reminding some other unpleasant experience of mine.  There are two persons in the hobby who have took my money without sending me my things.  First is Mr. Royce Braderman of USA, well known for customizing engines, whom I sent three engines, some exhaust pipes and US$390- to him on May, 1999.  The money is for his modification works to the engines that I sent him, and one Rossi engine that he wanted to sell me.  He sent me an e-mail acknowledged receipt of the money and engines. I waited for months to receive the engines, but to no avail. I pledged to him on e-mail asking him to send back one of the engines cause its for my friend, and he did send just one engine back but none afterwards.  Numerous phone calls and e-mails to him did not help to retrieve my engines.  Second is Mr. J. Michael Ellis of USA, well known for custom building whom I sent US$7,500- to him in August, 1999 for two scale helicopters to be custom built by him.  I waited for months for the helicopters and Mike did return my calls and e-mails and told me the progress.  However, till December 1999 news from Mike just vaporized.   Mike has been someone that I looked up to.  Later, I learned from some other that Mike have some financial troubles.  However, he had yet to return to me as to how he would deal with my case.  If any of you know these person please relate my message to them that I would like to talk with them. If you are thinking of dealing with these characters, think twice! I would appreciate any help in locating the above persons.

Unpleasant things aside, here are the pages in the pipeline:

  1. Robbe Millenium II review
  2. Kalt/HPI Omega Grand Prix Zeus review
  3. Hirobo Eagle 99 WC DTDS review
  4. Kyosho Caliber 50 review
  5. Hirobo AS365 Dauphin review
  6. Vario NOTAR review
  7. Kyosho Caliber 60 revisited
  8. JR Ergo 50 revisited

I have photos for the above pages ready, just need some time in front of the computer to write the contents.  In addition, lately a lot of people have asked me tips for beginners.  I would keep that page first priority.

My current projects are:

  1. Testing OS91FX engines for helicopter use
  2. Testing GY502 and GY601 gyros
  3. Testing the feasibility of 140 degree ECCPM

The above are something that I am doing besides building the long piled up kits of mine.  In addition, there are some testing I am doing for some manufacturers that requires me to keep a secret for the moment. In due course with the manufacturers permission I would let you guys know about these efforts.

My helicopter related travel schedule for 2001 (subject to change) would be as follows:

Feb. 2000 - Nurmberg Toy Fair

Apr. 2000 - Hirobo Cup Hong Kong

May. 2000 - Shizuoka Model Fair

Sep. 2000 - World Championship in Muncie, Indiana

Oct. 2000 - Tokyo Hobby Fair

Nov. 2000 - International Air Meet 2001

Nov. 2000 - Hirobo Cup Final 2001

I would write pages for the above events.

In the mean time, since it would take time for me to write my pages, if you have any questions/comments/suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail at jasoncsc@mail.infoease.com

Finally, hope you will have a wonderful year of 2001!

Regards,

Jason Chan
