Who is Jason Chan
If you are here intentionally to read about me here is the right place. If you are here accidentally then you can go back to where you are from by clicking the "back" button of your browser. For those who would like to know more about me, here we go: My Background My full name is Jason Chun-Sang Chan, born and lived in Hong Kong. My name in Chinese means "Spring Born", due to the fact that I am born in spring. My birthdate is in February, 1968, horoscope Aquarius, year of the Monkey. I am single, and will remain single probably for the rest of my life. I don't have any religious believe but if anyone dare to ask I would say I believe in myself. I don't have any idol, except myself. What an arrogant guy! At first, I thought to include a complete autobiography of my life here, but I opt not to, and limited this page related to the three thing only: Business, Golfing, and R/C Helicopters. Business I am a licensed accountant (Both in Hong Kong and USA), and have my own practice in Hong Kong. However, I don't classfy myself as a accountant. My current main business activity is acting as a "Consultant", who gives advice to others for tax planning (Legal tax evasion according to some guys), business restructuring, and business acquisition. Along the way, I met some very great people who later became my partners, and that leads to me owning other business like an Internet ISP, a textile manufacturing business, and a R/C helicopter shop. My business leads me to travel all over the world, and kept me from living a normal life that most people enjoy. I sometimes felt sad and lonely cause I don't know where I will be the next moment. Golfing I learned golf at first from my father. At childhood when I saw my father practiced putting an pitching at the backyard, I nagged him to let me try. After several tries, I threw the club and never looked back until my college years. I studied accounting at college, and one professor said to the class if we need to get good offer we have to play golf real good. As a result, the whole class went into golfing, and it was at that time I looked at golf again. I used to looked at golf as a business tool, but now I looked at golf as a way to exercise myself and to escape from my busy life. I played in golf courses around the world, and when I travel my golf equipment are always with me. I have a handicap of 22. I would like to lower my handicap, but my hectic schedule only allows me to play at most 2 rounds per week. R/C Helicopter I remembered when I was about 12 years old, I saw a Kavan Jet Ranger on display in a store. At that time, the price tag of it could buy a decent apartment. I told myself that one day I would own one like this... Years later, I still remember one Sunday I was driving around town with nothing to do. In fact, I was dumped by one of my ex-girlfriends the day before. Anyway, I drove by a hobby shop that had a Hirobo Shuttle on display. It reminded me my childhood dream of owning one of those. I parked my car, walked into the store, bought a whole set of helicopter, and started my venture into this hobby. When I just got into this hobby, I wasted a lot of money and time on things that somebody said I need to get, but the ones that gave me such advice actually don't know what he's talking about. While being cheated sometimes does not hurt me a bit financially, but I always feel a sense of discouragement after money wasted. I consider myself very lucky to have the resource to support this hobby, and I would like to share my experience and findings with others, and that's the reason why have this site. It's my work nature that I need to travel worldwide, and everytime when I was abroad I would look for r/c helicopter manufacturers/shops in the vicinity of the area I visited and would spend some time visiting these manufacturers/shops and have a chat. Its my travel activity that enables me to know a lot of different interesting products from other parts of the world, and get to know a lot of people in the industry that benefited me into further enjoying this hobby. Its my love of this hobby led me to open my a hobby shop. Me and Mr. Stephen Fan founded BestKopter R/C in August ,1999. The mission of BestKopter R/C (at least to me...)is not to make tons of money, but to try to serve fellow hobbyist with the best information and products. At that time, BestKopter strived to be the information hub, rather than a "R/C Helicopter Supermarket" that provides stackfull of selections but no support. The store strived, and succeeded to serve fellow r/c helicopter pilots all over the world with up to date information and the best product available. However, late on the partnership in the business turned sour as there are differences in the operating principle between Mr. Fan and myself. As a result, I left BestKopter R/C on 1st March, 2000. My experience in running BestKopter R/C taught me many things. Of all the things I learned, the most valuable is how naive I am, and second, to operate a model shop. Before I operate BestKopter, I have lots of misconceptions on the operations of a model shop, and not until I took charge of BestKopter that I know that some of my thoughts are wrong. However, the pressure of owning a model shop, especially partnering with somebody else, was very high. I am glad not to be a shop owner so that my opinion would sound less biased. During my time at BestKopter, I taught a lot of things to people. Some took my advice and enjoyed the hobby very much, while some "got a free ride on my knowledge" and gain to become a self proclaimed "expert" per-se. Here I would like to say that I did not, and have no intention to, classify myself as an expert in this field, cause I know I am far from that. I met with a lot of very talented people in the industry and compared to them I am just a small peanut. I just happen to get access to some inner things about this hobby and is willing to share, which is my first intention to set up this site. In addition, I have no intention to show off my wealth with this site, as I think doing that would be childish and immature. In this site, you will find lots of reviews about the helicopter kits and related items that I owned, experiences accumulated either by myself or from talented people across the world, reports of various trips that I made, up to date information from across the world, fine photos that are either taken by myself or submitted from friends all over the world, and a links page that contained lots of websites about r/c helicopters. Finally I welcome you to this site, and hope you will enjoy your stay here.
